I must admit I was not there, but based upon the Archive, it easily could make the top 5 or 10 shows. I always thought the Quintet was one of the best
...
Phil and Friends combos ever. And shows like this prove it. To be picky, Cumberland seemed a little too uptempo, but no other complaints. The set list is one of the best ever!
Only problem with not being there is not knowing when Warren or Jimmy is playing lead just from listening. Wish I was there.

Was really the only post-Jerry show that was as good as some of the better GD concerts I attended.

I went to this show, was amazing. Missed the passenger, but cam in during the opening notes of cumberland, and off I was.... I remember the Wharf rat
...
being phenominal, I especially like the intro to it. I was sitting here listening to it and hear a Norwegian wood tease in there I suspect by Warren. Definately kool. Just wanted to know if anyone else caught it in there. Phenominal show and very glad to be able to have it. It was definately better to be there and wish everyone could have been there.

i'm baffled by the downloading stats on archive. why is that 2005 and 2006 shows trump these amazing 2001s on archive? is it because everyone had already
...
etreed these (as a friend had for me) back in '01?
regardless, there is no other p&f like the Q. this was my 2nd show, ashville was the first, and i saw tour heads and people i hadn't seen since 1995! that alone was a value-added experience. little did i know that phil would rip the joint like this.
in fact, at the time, i was so overwhelmed that i was just laughing in disbelief, alternately dancing up a storm and staring gape-mouthed at the stage.
amazing. these 2001 Q shows should still be topping the charts in downloads as they are the BEST (yet)!

This is one of the best Phil shows ever played. This is the best Warf Rat, post Jerry, ever played.
Dark Star > Blues > Dark Star. What? Anyway, ... amazing quality, amazing musicianship. Well worth the DL.

Thank god I was there!
This is w/o a doubt one of the greatest concerts I have been too... and I have been to several hundred.
The scene in the lot was ... great. Sunny, beautiful day, People def. in the 4/20 spirit for this show and then they brought it into the arena.
The boys were def. pheeling it on this evening.
They were on top of their game.
Fantastic setlist - opening up w/ a rockin' Passenger, some twang w/ Cumberland Blues, a gorgeous Wharf Rat, a hot Casey Jones, Rainy Day Women to open set 2, a crazy Dark Star and Blues for Allah, I am the Walrus was on time, Warren wished us a happy 4:20 and then we end the spiritual journey that night w/ Bid you Goodnight.
Wow!
Thanks guys

i saw the birmingham and atlanta shows right before this, and they were really good. but this right here was the absolute sickness. the first set was
...
really, really rockin from start to finish. you're right, the casey jones got so fast that i thought i was going to die. the second set is without a doubt the best set i've ever seen them or any other band play in the last 5 years. the "rainy day woman" got everyone in the 420 spirit and then the "rider" rocked us once again before the mind-expanding dark star>blues>dark star>1000 stars took us to new heights of being! when i thought i would simply transcend this universe if i heard any more, they broke out the help>slip>walrus>slip>franklins that was utterly amazing! An awesome display of musical genius. thank god they left us on the mellow notes of "it stoned me" and "bid u goodnight" (which was most excellent) or i don't think i would have been fit to live. Download this show!

I missed the Passenger, Cumberland opener that night, but they are a great listen. Full of energy and adventure.
Dire Wolf was short and sweet. Wharf ... Rat > GDTRFB was where the show really started for me. The Wharf Rat made my ears ring. Warren's guitar tone was outrageous. By the time the sizzling GDTRFB ended everyone knew it was going to be a special night. Casey Jones got going so fast I believe I was bouncing up and down. Rob sounded great on the vocals.
Second set is one of the best sets I've ever seen. I say this without exaggeration. The Rainy Day Women was a smilefest and oh so appropriate on 4/20, and Rider was just as scorching as it's brother, GDTRFB in set 1. The Darkstar>Blues For allah>Darkstar segment was the greatest psychadelic music experience of my life. Not random noises, like 80s/90s Space, but more like a jazz concert (perhaps that is why Phil had started introducing them as the "Quintet"). Most people just sat down and took it all in.
Night of a Thousand Stars is probably the best of the "new" Phil songs and was a nice debut for me that night. I remember thinking it would be the closer. Then it happened:
Help>Slip>WALRUS>Slip>Franklins
This suite showcased the entire range of this band. Help was rocking and aggresive, and the Slip gave us one final taste of the psychadelia we had been drenched in previously. The walrus was spot-on (Nice vocals by rob again). A song I've heard many times but never realized as a rock concert song until now. At the point the crowd had become another instrument, assisting with the "Coo-coo-cah-choohs." And with the Franklin's the place expoded one more time, with all the energy of the second set having built for that moment.
Warren beautifully sang the And It Stoned Me encore after wishing everyone a "Happy 420." The And It Bids You Good Night is probably the best sounding I've ever heard post-1972.
An amazing night in Charlotte to close the tour. All of the soundboards Phil released that year are wonderful, but this is THE SHOW. Thanks to Phil and the boys.
